What takeoff.bid is.

Construction takeoff in the browser. Measure the plan, price the work, and keep the field on the same project.

The workspace

takeoff.bid is a construction takeoff workspace. In the browser, a project shares four workspaces: 2D Takeoff, 3D Model, Earth, and Estimate.

  • Upload PDFs, set the scale, and measure lengths, areas, and counts.
  • Organize takeoffs, add text callouts, and run custom calculators.
  • Stitch adjoining sheets into roll plots.
  • Review a basic 3D model built from the plans.
  • Measure Earth quantities on the map.
  • Price a takeoff-linked estimate and export quantities.
  • Connect a compatible AI assistant through MCP. Visual Search, Pipe Trace, and the legend parser can prepare work. You review every proposed change before it is applied.

The Mac app, Construction Takeoff, is the fuller desktop product today (3D modeling, plan overlays, roll plots, and connected estimates). The browser version is early access: $20/month, by invitation. The sample is free. Some desktop workflows are still in development.

Takeoff to estimate

The core loop is takeoff to estimate. Measure the drawing. Keep those quantities tied to the plans they came from. Then price the work from the same project.

Linked estimate items can refresh from takeoff. You review the quantity change before it updates the bid. You can compare owner quantities with measured takeoff. The plan stays one click away from the price.

Flare

Flare is the field workspace on takeoff.bid. It lives at takeoff.bid/flare.

Daily logs, timesheets, price schedules, and drawings, linked to takeoff projects. Invite only.

The two stay connected on takeoff.bid. Flare's top bar carries the takeoff.bid wordmark. From takeoff.bid you open Flare at /flare.

Who it's for

Contractors, estimators, and field crews who want the takeoff, the estimate, and the job in one place.

Mason built this after about 10 years in construction (the last 5 estimating and project managing) plus about 10 years of development. Old estimating software got in the way of the work. takeoff.bid is the workspace he wanted on the job.

What's next

The long-term target is desktop workflow parity: the same takeoff-to-estimate loop in the browser that the Mac app already runs, through shared operations.

Still in progress: team workspaces, closer Mac parity, and the remaining assistant and collaboration pieces. Individual accounts are available now. No launch dates attached. The work is to keep the loop honest (takeoff into estimate) and close the gaps that still sit between the browser and the desktop app.
